SOFTWARE IN REVIEW

GIMP 2.8.18

GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition, and image authoring” (GIMP, 2016). The GIMP software can be compared to Adobe’s Photoshop software. The main difference between the two is one is Free, Open Sourced and the other is proprietary. I have some experience with this software. It is very compatible to that of Photoshop. What I like most about this software is the friendly ‘User Interface.’ The current version available for download is GIMP 2.8.18. that was released on July 14, 2016. Two major improvements of this version are (1) fixed a vulnerability in the XCF loading code (CVE-2016-4994) and (2) addressed and fixed Bugs – especially those that effected system startup. This software comes highly recommended and can be downloaded by visiting the following website link (Copy and Paste into your browser): https://www.gimp.org/.
